So after a day and a night that I will never soon forget, Drew and I head our way to the airport bound for Paris, France. Okay, I must admit that Paris wasn’t my first choice, or my second. But it really was an eye opening experience. Before diving into that I will answer one question….Would I go back? Yes! This time maybe not with rose colored glasses.
We had a connection through Chicago – O’Hare. So from DFW we flew into Chicago and then out to Paris from there. The flight from Chicago to Paris was 8 hours and Paris is 7 hours ahead of Dallas. Mentally you can’t be prepared enough for this kind of jetlag. I mean, I thought I would be fine….what’s stayin’ up a few extra hours? Right?! NO! It’s not just a few extra hours, it’s like half a freakin’ day! Not to mention I am NOT a fan of flying and my body is super stressed after flying. So let’s just say I was a grumpy Gus when we got into Paris. We arrived at 8:00 am there time. Finding our way through the airport was a little difficult as we didn’t speak the native language. But we were able to navigate our way to the train station and take the train out to the Latin Quarter, where we were staying.
Let me just say that we were in Paris for 9 days and I am a chick, so I was dragging a carry on bag, purse and two BIG suitcases. These items are not French turnstile friendly. So the train experience was eventful to say the least. We made it onto the train, after getting yelled out by locals and waiting for half an hour. The train ride out was interesting. From money peddling kids, violin players and curious stares from others, we made it to our stop in one piece. Now we just had to walk 8 blocks …. In the rain. So let’s just say the trip got off to a rocky start and set the tone for the honeymoon.
The next few days filled with sight-seeing, TONS of walking, bread and cheese, and the Eiffel Tower. One word to describe it….AMAZING! Did you know the Eiffel Tower sparkles at night? It’s truly a breathtaking sight.
Even though it had it’s rough patches I really enjoyed myself and would go again. It’s truly interesting taking in another culture and seeing how different things are done there. It’s a beautiful city full of lights, romance and adventure. It was a very cultural experience and spending it with my husband made it that much better.

Oh, please do not give the nasty French any more of your money. They do not deserve it. Go on a cruise or the Caribbean, those people are nice & appreciate you money! haha
All kidding aside, glad you had such a wonderful time. Loved the video, especially the rats at the Eifel Tower. They were hysterical.
Love, Debi

Ah, how I love paris! I've been several times, and my favorite time of year is in the spring for sure! its gorgous!! I can't say enough good things about French food- the french are geniuses with food!
I have a sickness, its called Traveling the world. I would live in Texas in a trailer if it meant I could travel the world full time! The way I see jet lag- its gotta be worth it if you travel that far! :-) I used to live in Asia with an 18 hour + plane ride...that jet lag suuuucked. but the adventures were worth it! :-D
