July 4th - Outdoor Fun

For July 4th, we kept it really low key. Grilled hamburgers, made cupcakes, etc. and let Jonah play outside. Here is some of the cute shots from that day.

Happiest Father's Day....

Andrew's 1st Father's day 2010

Happy Father's Day to my husband, baby daddy, best friend, king of the house, biggest cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, ok....so you get the point. Andrew wears many hats in our house. :)

I didn't grow up with a father. My father signed over his parental rights to me when I was 3 and the next time I saw him I was 25. So needless to say, he wasn't involved in my life.....at all. I lucked out and had a wonderful Grandfather who filled that role for me whether he knew it or not.

I hit the lottery when I married Andrew. He's such a hard worker, wonderful husband and amazing father. Now, let's paint an accurate picture, he's not perfect....but let's face it, I don't want perfect. I want a husband and father to my child(ren) to be hopelessly devoted because the rest will naturally fall into place.

Andrew has no problem taking over 'dad duties' when I have had a bad day. In fact, he insists on it. If he comes home and I am completely frazzled, regardless of the day he's had, he steps in and tells me to go to a quiet corner or take a bath. He offers to change diapers, wipe noses, change clothes and give baths. He is not afraid to take Jonah by himself, a lot of times he just takes him to do father/son things like run around the tool section of Sears, go to Auto Zone or the guitar store. No wonder Jonah is obsessed with cars and guitars. He's definitely his daddies boy!

Andrew, thank you! Thank you for being the best father to Jonah and a great husband to me. You really deserve more than one day of recognition. Jonah and I love you VERY much!

Happy Father's Day.

Thanks for being such a great dad!

Jonah - 15 months

Jonah at the splash park

I am just a teensy bit behind on updating on Jonah's recent well visit. He hit his 15 month mark last week and here is his update. :)

Weight: 22 lbs. (12th %tile)
Length: 33" (95th %tile)
Head: 19.25 (90th %tile)

As far as his developments he's right on track. He's also recently opened his vocabulary SO much. I am shocked all the stuff that comes out of his mouth. It has made me really aware that I have to watch what I say around him, because he has started to repeat what I say. Eek!

He also has started stringing two words together, he says things like "sih dow" = sit down, "seeee ya" = see ya and "dada car" = Daddy's car. It's really sweet to hear him talk.

Other than being a chatterbox, he's flying around the house even more than usual. He has two speeds - sleeping and running. He definitely keeps me on my toes and I love it. He still loves music so much. When he's sad or cranky all you have to do is sing to him and he gets so quiet.

He's still a lover of books, but his recent obessesion is cars, well....anything with wheels actually. It's SO cute! He also LOVES Andrew's guitar and loves when Daddy plays music for him. He truly is his Father's son. :)

As for the rest of the family, I am super busy lately. Not only am I the Newsletter Editor for my MOMS Club, I also serve on the board as the Secretary. I have recently started volunteering with the 2 year old at church during the second service, I am also still involved with the Flavour Ministry at church, I am wrapping up the Breaking Free Beth Moore Bible study and I am looking to get involved with an organization that works to abolish human slavery and sex trafficking. It's something God has placed on my heart and I am burning with a fire to help give a voice to the voiceless. Stay tuned for more about that. :)

Andrew is still rebuilding his Firebird. It's much closer now and I think all he have left is the engine swap. Then again, it could be more than that, who knows. :) He just loves to turn wrenches.

I am thankful for such a wonderful life, awesome husband and healthy child. Looking forward to adding to our family. :)

It's a bird. It's a plane. NO! It's strep.

I have known that little children are petri dishes of viral and bacterial filth. They LOVE to touch EVERYTHING and then put those slimy little fingers in their mouth making them a variable breeding ground of all sorts of germy awesomeness.

Fortunately, Jonah has been a healthy kid. Once we started putting him in our church nursery and exposing him to more children at different events it wasn't long for him to start getting sick. So far he had 1 case of croup and 2 ear infections. Neither of which slowed him down a single bit. The only reason I knew something was wrong was the seal-like barking cough, or the mild elevation in his temperature. He slept, ate and played fine.

This last weekend, something came over him and it wasn't fun. He was lethargic, cranky, wouldn't eat/drink and had a temperature as high as 103.1. After 3 visits to the doctor (1 Acute Kids & 2 Pediatrician), 1 wrongly diagnosed sinus infection with subsequent antibiotic that he had an allergic reaction to, a poorly read dosing chart for Motrin causing a few accidental overdoses and 1 call to poison control, we found the source of his problem. Strep! Of course, it's not common in kids Jonah's age, so it wasn't even a consideration and his symptoms didn't point to strep. In fact, his throat wasn't even that red the doctor noted. Thankfully though we found the answer and got him on some antibiotics and after one dose, he was back to normal - flying around the house and destroying anything he could. You know, being a typical boy!

This is him laying on the couch watching Sesame Street. He NEVER does this!

A letter to Kari....

Dear Kari,

Today was a day that I wasn't looking forward to for quite some time. Not just because I had to get up at 4:00am, or because I had to drive an hour to the airport, I was upset because I had to send you back home.

You came into our life a short 2.5 years ago. I remember the day we brought you home from the airport. As soon as I opened that kennel door when we got home you were my best friend. You were so sweet and loving. We would play fetch with you for hours, you were able to receive love anytime we were willing to give it and you had a special place in your heart for treats. :)

When we added Jonah to the family we were nervous that you would feel left out and set aside. You were so gentle with him and loved him like he was your own. You never skipped a beat. You never seemed to mind when he would poke you, lay on you, practice drum solo's on your belly or chase you around the house. You were always patient with him when we were trying to teach him 'pat her gently'. He could have stuck sticks in your eyes and you would have loved him the same. You are a sweet and special dog. You will be sadly missed in the Weil house. I know Jonah will miss you VERY much! He will be wondering where his "dah" is. :(

The only comfort I have right now is that you are going back home and will soon be reunited with your brother and friends that you left on the farm.

Kari we love you. We miss you! And we hope that you retire in peace as you deserve.

Love,
Your temporary Texas owners

Jonah's Easter 2011

This Easter Andrew wanted to go up to Franklin and visit his family so we packed up the car and headed east. The drive out wasn't too bad since we broke it up into two parts. The trip home however left MUCH to be desired. But while we were there we had a fabulous time. We colored eggs, hunted eggs, sat outside on the patio while Andrew played his guitar. It was a great time.

Here are some of the pictures from the weekend.

Enjoy.
