Well this Easter comes precisely one week before our 1 year anniversary and it's obviously our first as a married couple. So wanted to make sure we set the tone for years to come. So I decided....yes I said I decided for us to exchange Easter baskets. We had done this two years ago but didn't last year because it was right before our wedding and we had SO much going on. But I wanted to get back to the tradition we had set early on in our relationship.
Let me start out by saying that Drew and I have an inside joke with each other. We both equally HATE/despise peeps. You know ... those little sugary marshmallow barf nuggets shaped like ducks and chickens. GROSS! Our joke between each other is that we will buy each other NOTHING but peeps as punishment for being a bad spouse. haha.
The few days leading up to Easter Sunday I made it perfectly clear in my facebook/myspace/twitter status messages just how much I hate peeps. I had actually purchased the stuff for Drew's Easter basket almost a month prior ... this is the first time in a LONG time that I have ever been prepared for anything. Yay! Well I have been harassing Drew to get my Easter basket stuff and he put it off until the Saturday before. Men! :shakeshead: Anywho, since we had an early Easter service on Sunday then lunch at Grandmom's on the other side of the earth ... we decided to exchange our Easter baskets on Saturday night. Woo-hoo! So we went and got each others baskets and I came out to the kitchen first and put his on the island. Then he told me to go to the living room and sit down and close my eyes. "Wow!" I thought, "maybe he got me one of those HUGE Easter baskets with lots of stuff! Yeah." HAHA YEAH RIGHT!
So he tells me ... "Okay!" And I go into the kitchen and this is what I see...
his basket is the blue and mine is the pink ... OBVIOUSLY!
and a close up on my basket ... just in case you missed it ...(sorry for the sideways picture - but you get it)
Okay, so my reaction was priceless Drew said. I remember just pouting and looking at him like he killed my dog and I thought to myself ... "I thought I made it REALLY clear I hated those things!" :*(
And he's just sitting there with his chest sticking out, HUGE smile and this look on his face like ... "Man! I did SO GOOD!" Note my reaction....
Well as I got closer, I looked down at them thinking to myself ... "HOW am I going to eat those things?! Maybe I will just stick them in the microwave." (That's REALLY fun!) Then as I looked closer I realized ... he played a really FUNNY joke on me. See below...
He took ALL the peeps out and replaced it with my favorite candies and taped the packages shut. HAHA! Did he get me good or what?! I love when we are able to play good, clean, fun jokes on each other and he really got me. Too bad for all those poor peeps that got thrown in the trash can then gasoline poured on them, but that's how I feel about them. They are THAT gross! (Actually Drew was working on his car and threw his old fuel pump away that he was replacing - so that's how you explain the gasoline.) But it sounded funnier if it was me that doused them in gas. haha.
Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their loved ones and got everything they wanted and deserved. I sure can't wait to have kiddo's so we can color Easter eggs and hide them. :) I remember LOVING that as a child and I wish I still could, but when I do the parents yell at me for taking the eggs from their babies. :( haha.
We love you Jesus and THANK YOU for dying on the cross and rising again for us. Thank you God for the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have eternal life.
Love and blessings,
Krysie
